Lessons from the Mie Goreng Challenge.
Today i was just casually meandering through the uni markets - all hipsta vintage clothes ..you know the cool stuff.
Then i turned the corner…and there was the Indonesian Night Market ..
Secretly this is my idea of fun and cool…interacting and engaging with another culture.
Some guy got on the microphone and announced a competition ..my little kid inside of me was like ohhhh i so want to go in that!…Then i was asked to join and obviously i didn’t hesitate..
I had to eat two servings of mie goreing in less then two minutes…
If you know me, you will know that i am not the most graceful person at eating, but it was hilarious..
I walked away feeling a bit sick physically, but ecstatic emotionally, because i didn’t give in to my ‘ego’ of being embarrassed or looking like an idiot ..cause i was on my own..
So my friends all this to say..next time don’t deny your inner fun child..the side of you that really..to be honest..doesn’t give a crap about what people think..i think all humans have this side to them..but not all people free it.
So free your inner fun child side..it must just win you a pack of mie-gorgeng.
and BOOM its assessment time…this time of year/ semester always creeps up on me.
So many things due, here, there and everywhere.
So to get back into the momentum of studying i have posted a little blog to motivate myself to get back in the ‘swing’
p.s i’m procrastinating on studying..is it really that obvious?
Here’s what i found on this website..http://www.studygs.net/attmot4.htm
And here are some of my own little tips:
See the assignment/reading as a resource in your mind..something you will maybe one day possibly use and if not use it as a conversation starter- everybody loves someone who is interesting.
If your anything like me, you may get freaked out about the large assignments..and feel a little bit overwhelmed.
Chunk your work - set yourself weekly goals (or daily ones if your cutting it fine)!
This could include things such as 1. complete all readings, collate notes, write the first 5 paragraphs etc.
Use a diary, know when your going to get ‘dumped’ with all your work.
Keep all your study resources in the once place whether that be a physical location or on a folder on your computer - this will cut out the ‘study’ time it takes to find the bloody resources! (i’ve definitely learnt that the hard way)
Yes coffee is a students best friend during assessment period and trust me i am SUCH a culprit of this. But lately i’ve realised how truly shocking it is that our bodies and minds RELY on caffeine so much. Yes have that coffee - but also hydrate yourself, sleep well, each your veggies and have a juice..your body and stress levels with thank you post the intense study period.
So lets nail this assignments together..British migration assignments here i come!

Today i am indulging myself just a tad - with a brownie & a coffee.
i felt a little bit deflated/awkward as i went all out today in class and asked a girl if she had someone to work with for a group assignment and then she got awkward and made a situation that didn’t have to be extremely awkward. it was one of those oh ok I’m just gonna go now kinda moments.
Hence the brownie and a coffee.
Hope your days are going well amigos.
